Alternative Student Breaks (ASB)
ASB is a student-run organization that seeks to educate student volunteers about specific social issues by immersing teams of NU students in diverse communities across the country to engage in service-learning. ASB not only seeks to involve, educate and heighten students' social awareness, but also strives to encourage lifelong social action. Students spend a week volunteering with community agencies and experience social issues firsthand.

Best Buddies
Best Buddies provides an opportunity for college students to be matched in a one-on-one friendship with individuals who have intellectual disabilities.

Camp Kesem

Camp Kesem is a student-run summer camp program for children who have or had a parent with cancer, where campers build self-esteem and gain support from peers facing similar challenges.

Campus Kitchens

The Campus Kitchen operates on Northwestern University's Evanston campus, and utilizes shared kitchen space, donated food, and the energy of students, faculty and community members. Volunteers prepare meals on campus then deliver them to agencies and individuals in the community.

Dance Marathon
Northwestern University's Dance Marathon is one of the largest student-run philanthropies of its kind. From September through March, thousands of students are involved in volunteering, fundraising and educational activities. On the first weekend in March, these yearlong efforts culminate in a 30-hour dance party.
Freshman Urban Program (FUP)
The Freshman Urban Program is a pre-orientation program for incoming freshmen. FUP is an introduction to the neighborhoods within Chicago and Evanston.

Griffin's Tale
Northwestern's only children's repertory theater company. Every year, Griffin's Tale works with Chicago area schools, taking children's creative works, turning them into songs and sketches, and performing them both at the schools and within the Northwestern community.
Habitat for Humanity

Habitat is an international ecumenical non-profit organization dedicated to building quality housing for people living on a low income. Habitat sets up opportunities to work in local affiliates as well as trips to other chapters around the nation for service oriented spring breaks.

Music Learning Community
The Music Learning Community (MLC) at Northwestern University is committed to establishing a community of musicians who are dedicated to sharing and enhancing music making, and who strive for continuous learning and education in the classroom and community.

NCDC's spectrum of student involvement ranges from community organizing to political advocacy to direct service and seeks to develop a mutually-beneficial partnership with the communities.

OASIS commits themselves to helping a community help itself through direct service. Through open dialogue, guest speakers, and social events, OASIS has discovered several ways in which they can commit themselves to helping a community help itself.

Operation Smile provides education and training around the world to physicians and other health professionals to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. Purple Crayon Players

Students produce professional works of children's theatre and introduce it to the Northwestern Community and to elementary school students in the Chicagoland area.

SEED promotes concern for the planet in community decisions and in daily life through both education and action. SEED offers students the opportunity to experience the environment around them and to be actively involved in maintaining and restoring it.

Special Olympics of Northwestern University creates opportunities both for people with disabilities and people of Suburban Cook County to interact and learn from each other. Student Blood Services recruits blood and bone marow donors through drives that take place every other month. They depend heavily on a strong volunteer network to publicize and help out at blood drives and to recruit donors on campus.
