Dorothy R. Brooks Morgan Performing Arts Memorial Grant
Purpose
The “Dorothy R. Brooks Morgan Theatre Memorial Grant” honors Dorothy’s legacy and love of Northwestern University’s student theatre and performing arts groups. The fund will provide additional monetary support to one student theatre or performing arts group.
Who can apply
Any recognized theatre or performing arts student group at Northwestern University.
Guidelines:
- Food, prizes, and capital expenses will not be funded.
- The project funded must be open to the campus community.
- All funds must be used by the end of the current academic year.
- Application must have signatures from your organization’s President, Treasure and Advisor.
- 10% of one performance revenue must be given back to the fund.
About Dorothy
Dorothy joined the Northwestern University family in 2001 in the Center for Student Involvement; where she was the Office Manager, until her untimely death in 2008.
On January 31, 2008 Dorothy died of a heart attack at the age of 64 years old.
Dorothy touched everyone who crossed her path. Many students thought of Dorothy as a mother or grandmother. She would offer you her opinion even if you did not solicit it. She frequently chided students for failing to wear proper winter attire. Several CSI staff members have continued this tradition in Dorothy’s memory.
In 2003-2004 Dorothy was the recipient of the Outstanding Support Staff Service Award. This honor is awarded to the support staff member who best represents the concept of service to students. Dorothy embodied the sentiment that this award recognizes and her commitment will be commemorated each time this award is given. Because of Dorothy’s demonstrated commitment to serving students and giving selflessly to students while performing her job this award was renamed on February 4, 2008 the Dorothy R. Brooks Morgan Outstanding Support Staff Service Award.
To honor Dorothy’s legacy and love of Northwestern University’s student theatre and performing arts groups, the Center for Student Involvement created the Dorothy R. Brooks Morgan Theatre Memorial Fund. The fund will provide additional monetary support to student theatre and performing arts groups.
Proposals should include the following:

- Answer the following: Please describe how the desired impact you would like your production to have on the campus community (No more than 3 pages)
Please note:
In order to receive grant funds, a final event report must be submitted within two weeks of your last performance.
Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
