Why Leadership? | What to Look for in a Leadership Program

Why Leadership?
Why get involved in leadership roles - shouldn't I be concentrating on my school work? Yes and no. While it is important to maintain a high level of success in your school work, it is also important to get involved outside the classroom. Employers do look at how involved you were as a student beyond the four walls of a classroom; studies suggest that involved students have better grade point averages, are more satisfied with their college experience and are generally more successful.

Why Get Involved at Northwestern University?

Opportunities are all across campus - they include but are not limited to, athletic teams, residence hall governments, student organizations, work-study positions and campus jobs, departmental groups and fraternity and sorority life. Accessing these opportunities gives you opportunities to interact with peers that you may not have in any other setting, access to administrators, professors and the general operation of the university.

What is Different About Holding a Leadership Position?

Holding a leadership position gives you the opportunity to put in practice what you are learning, gives you insight into human relationships, and affords you an experience that you wouldn't necessarily get as a member of a group.

Take some time to surf the WILDCAT web site and take advantage of the opportunities that Northwestern has... better yourself and your experience at NU, you'll be glad you did.
