| The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) offers several fun and exciting employment opportunities. If you like working with people in a friendly and dynamic office then this is the place for you. There are a number of areas you can work in at the Center for Student Involvement take a look at the office and program assistant positions descriptions and find which one is right for you.

Function: Assists in the day-to-day activities and organization of the Center for Student Involvement
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to aid in the day-to-day activities of running the Center for Student Involvement, including but not limited to answering phones, filing, collecting mail, opening and closing the office, faxing, copying, distributing forms and contracts to student organizations, and greeting walk-in appointments
- Other duties may include helping professional staff with large-scale events, aiding the Director of the Center for Student Involvement on a variety of tasks, working with the Marketing Department to publicize events, utilizing contacts from the Evanston and Northwestern community to help in programming, and supporting a variety of student organizations
Qualifications: Must be proficient in computer and customer service skills
Supervisor: Assistant to the Director of the Center for Student Involvement
Office Hours / Shifts Available: Daytime hours, 10-15 hours per week

Function: Fulfill many roles and responsibilities as a member of the Leadership Development Team, a team comprised of other Leadership Development Program Coordinators.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning leadership workshops, retreats and conferences for undergraduate student body.
- Coordinate the Freshman Emerging Leaders Program and the Women in Leadership Speaker Series.
- Plan and implement the Student Recognition Banquet.
- Create publicity and promotional materials for events and programs.
- Assist with the creation of new leadership development initiatives.
- Assist with major CSI events.
- Assist with daily functions of CSI office.
Supervisor: Coordinator of Leadership Development
Office Hours / Shifts Available: Daytime hours, 9-12 hours per week

Function: Assists in administrative operations and outreach for the LGBT Resource Center.
Responsibilities:
- Managing calendar updates.
- Outreach and communication with affiliate NU LGBT groups.
- Updating general web information.
- Provide a safe, welcoming and affirming presence in the center during all worked hours.
- Working knowledge of resources available to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Ally community both on campus and off.
- Basic administrative duties - some filing, re-shelving library books, answering the center phone, making phone calls and emailing as needed.
- Assisting in programming events.
- Attend educational support programs and trainings; offer logistical support for these programs.
- Provide referrals as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with the LGBT population.
- Basic computer skills, proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel, or a willingness to learn. Dreamweaver a plus.
- Professionalism and positive representation for the LGBT Resource Center.
- Ability to be non-judgmental and compassionate about each person that walks through the door.

Office Hours / Shifts Available: Flexible shifts, day and nighttime

Function: Assists in the planning and implementation of programs geared towards the development of Student Organizations at Northwestern University. Program Assistants will also work with the Center for Student Involvement Team in carrying out day-to-day activities of the Center.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning Student Organization and Advisor Resource workshops, including working on event publicity and logistics.
- Assist in coordinating logistics for the Student Organization Symposium.
- Assist in the management of the NUnite Program .
- Assist in the management of the Space Allocation Programs.
- Maintain the Originals Binder and ensure that all material in the forms racks is filled as needed.
- Create publicity and promotional materials for events and programs.
- Assist with the creation of new organization development initiatives.
- Assist with major CSI events including but not limited to Norris at Night Events and Winter Carnival.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisor: Coordinator of Student Organizations and Organization Development
Office Hours / Shifts Available: Daytime hours, 9-12 hours per week

Function: An enthusiastic individual responsible for the development and implementation of social, cultural, educational and entertainment programs sponsored by area of Campus Program in the Center for Student Involvement. The programs include Fastbreak Fridays, Chicagoland, nStage, Winter Carnival, The Great Debates, Family Weekend, and Wildcat Welcome Week. Must be able to work in a team environment to follow through with ideas from conception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain consistent regular office hours.
- Attends mandatory weekly staff meetings.
- Acts as liaison with other departments as needed.
- Attends all staff training programs as necessary.
- Must work Campus Programming events including Wildcat Welcome Week.
- Assist in maintaining the program resource page information.
- Plans and coordinates programs.
- Searches for entertainment and creates programs for the campus community.
- Creates a budget for each program.
- Completes necessary paperwork to process payment or order services.
- Serves as person in charge of on-campus events assigned to coordinate.
- Markets the program to the campus community.
- Maintains a program file updating tasks and checklist
- Insures all tasks are completed before the day of the event.
- Responsible for supervising the event on the day of the program.
Qualifications:
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Possesses organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Has good written and verbal skills.
- Conscientious in regards to attendance and timeliness.
- Shows initiative.
- Willing to take responsibility for a program from beginning to end.
- Previous programming experience preferable, but not required.
Supervisor: Assistant Director for the Center for Student Involvement, Student Supervisor of Programming, Student Supervisor, and the Center for Student Involvement Graduate Student
Office Hours / Shifts Available: Daytime Office Hours, Some evening and weekend hours required if programs are scheduled, 9-12 hours per week.

Function: An enthusiastic individual who assists publicizing programming through the CSI. Must be able to work in a team environment to follow through with ideas from conception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Attend mandatory weekly staff meetings.
- Liaison with other departments as needed.
- Attend all staff training programs as necessary.
- Must work all major events
- Attend the National Association of Campus Activities Regional Conference if available.
- Marketing:
- Write and implement a quarterly marketing plan.
- Submit marketing request forms on-line to Norris Marketing department at least three weeks before each event.
- Distribute promotional materials across campus, including all living areas, Plan-it-Purple Calendar, Norris Campus Link, the Rock, and all relevant departments.
- Promote events during meal times (either in Norris or in the dining halls).
- Conceptualize and create a design for bulletin boards, based on the weekly events.
- Design emails for events to be sent to the CSI listserv.
- Design banners to be put up in the banner spaces on campus.
- Responsible for distribution of flyers and quarter sheets for the events including, but not limited to, Sibs N Kids, Winter Carnival, Norris Days, Great Debates, and Cambridge Debates.
- Designing spreads for the display cases.
Qualifications:
- Able to work in team environment
- Possesses organizational, decision making, and problem solving skills
- Has good written and verbal skills
- Conscientious in regards to attendance and timeliness.
- Shows initiative.
- Creative when designing all publicity material.
- Experience in graphic design, but not required.
- Previous experience in program planning is preferable, but not required.
Supervisor: Assistant Director for the CSI, Student Supervisor of Programming, Student Supervisor of Special Events and the Graduate Student
Office Hours / Shifts Available: Daytime, evening, and weekend hours, 9-12 hours per week.

Function: Assist in the day-to-day functions and programs for the Office of Community Service.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a peer advisor to individuals and student groups to connect them with agencies and organizations for community service opportunities.
- Maintain resources such as the handout series, web site, newsletter, listserv, and brochures.
- Act as a resource for community action and philanthropic organizations by maintaining transportation to agency sites, assisting with special events, and keeping abreast of community service opportunities.
- Plan and publicize annual service events, including fall and spring service days, National Volunteer Week and the holiday gift drive.
