She always made sure I was equipped with gloves, coat and hat when it was winter, and well-fed at all times.

Dorothy truly was comfort to all of us, not just the students, but to staff as well. She could put an embrace around you that your knew you were truly being helped and healed. And, she certainly was not afraid to call you out on your "stuff", no matter who you were, and that always put things in great perspective. My heart is breaking over this loss, and my prayers go out to her family and to the NU community.

Your memory about Dorothy: My memory of Dorothy is simply one of kindness and friendship. I worked for Sodexho, a private contractor, but Dorothy immediately accepted me as part of the Norris Family. She kept me in line, she kept me smiling, and she kept me passionate about what I do. I have missed her everyday since I have moved on from Northwestern. To my friends at Norris, my heart is with you in this trying time.

I have many memories of Dorothy, but the ones that I will always hold dear to me our the intimate motivational talks we shared. The week before her home going, we were supposed to have lunch because Dorothy was helping my with my graduate school application to Loyola and University of Chicago, but we didn\'t get the chance too. I will always remember her guidance in all my endeavors and her "as a matter of fact" voice will always ring in my ears.

She will truly be missed!

Dorothy was a great woman to work with--she always managed to get me smiling on early mornings, and taught me that the best thing you can bring to your job is a sense of humor. She will be missed.

Last winter I was a intern in CSI for 10 weeks. Dorothy always welcomed me with a great smile and friendly voice into the office each day. My fondest memory of her, in the short time we knew each other, was her generosity. The last time we spent with each other was in a cab ride we shared to the Davis St. "L." I was short on cash and she offered to pay without reservation and told me not to pay her back. This selfless act is one of many I witnessed in the short time I knew her. Dorothy will be missed. God bless her soul.

Dorothy and I were friends for many years. We worked together at Loyola University and when I am to Northwstern, as Secretary to the Director of Norris Center, she soon joined me. We had been friend for years and I can honestly say if Dorothy liked you she was your friend for life. She could feel your pain and your joy.

Missing her has now become a part of my everyday life.

She was my big sister, I could call her at anytime and she would listen to me no matter what. Now she is gone but my love for will NEVER DIE.

Dorothy always had a smile and a snappy comment for you. She had such a good honest heart and she was a genuinely good soul. I was a grad assistant at Norris when she first started at NU and liked her right off of the bat. She was the one you wanted to sit by during meetings because she could keep you laughing. She will be so very missed.

I was approached by Dorothy on my very first day of work at CSI. She walked into the Programming office, asked if my name was Joey, and then gave me the biggest hug. It was difficult for me to understand how someone could be so genuinely nice and welcoming, but as the year progressed, I realized that Dorothy was nothing but a hard-working, amazing lady with the biggest heart. She always looked out for me, and I am truly grateful to have known her.

I'm still missing the great hugs :(
