Hey hey,
Christie's Corner is back more badass than ever! This newsletter is specifically dedicated to all the incoming freshmen. We're very excited to have new smiles and ideas on campus in the fall- hope you guys are ready too. We have a plethora of events and things for you to check out once you get on campus.
Here's a sampling of the events and who puts them on, check back in September for dates and times:
- I'm beginning a new program fall quarter through the Resource Center that will be an one-hour long weekly discussion in the Resource Center for bisexuals, pansexuals, and anyone who is attracted to more than one gender. We will discuss facets of life that come along with multiple gender attraction including biphobia, dating, and stereotypes.
Right now I have a room reserved from 7-9:30pm on Tuesdays. If you are interested in the program and have a strong time/date preference please let me know.
(RC) - Social events throughout fall quarter designed for freshmen to meet each other and the returning Rainbow members
(Resource Center)- Dinner and conversation with fellow NU students and an LGBTQA faculty/staff member in their home
- along with Trans Training and "And…" Training (Support Network/Resource Center)- Training how on how to be an ally More info and sign up < http://www.northwestern.edu/lgbt/safespace.html>
(Resource Center and Rainbow Alliance will have tables)
(Resource Center)
That's cool too. You have options.
- There are LGBT books and movies you can anonymously check out. We also have fun gay magazines and newspapers. The Resource Center itself is a Safe Space where you are welcome from 8am-11pm every day, 3rd floor in Norris, Office L.
We are all safe spaces and would be more than happy to meet with you off campus somewhere you feel safe or even just exchange emails. You don't have to come out to have resources, we're here for you in any way, shape or form we can be.
A few options:

- Bookmark Christie's Corner
- Join the Rainbow Alliance Facebook Group
- Join the Resource Center and Rainbow Alliance listservs
- Facebook me to say hi ?
I rep San Diego, CA and college is the first time I've been able to wear my own clothes to class since I went to a Catholic school with uniforms. At Northwestern I live in the College of Cultural and Community Studies on North Campus which is pretty much the coolest dorm ever (and kind of nerdy). As far as gay stuff goes, I work in the LGBT Resource Center, I'm secretary for Rainbow Alliance, and I sit on the Support Network. I involved in SHAPE (Sexual Health and Assault Peer Education) which means I'm trained to answer questions about sexual health and be a resource for sexual assault survivors. This summer I'm roadtrippin' back to Cali and working as a counselor at a YMCA camp for children on the autistic spectrum. Then it's back to NU for New Student Week to meet all the new kids!
