 History
of Evanston Volunteer Recognition
Evanston is known for being a city with many people who give back
to their community by volunteering at many different service organizations.
Those who volunteer range in age from the young to the most senior.
This tradition has been acknowledged and recognized is a variety
of ways over the years. There have been city-wide receptions and
recognition of individuals by the City Council. This most recent
recognition is an annual reception which is planned and carried
out by a joint committee from the Evanston Community Foundation,
Evanston Township High School and Northwestern University. The reception
is held during the month of April which is the month in which volunteers
are recognized across the nation. April 19, 2007
